Environmental Impact Assessments

Environmental impact assessments incorporate primary and secondary data to evaluate potential socio-economic and environmental impacts from proposed project activities. As part of the EIA process IEM outlines prevention and mitigation measures for identified impacts and designs a protection and management plan to ensure compliance with existing Thai legislation, other relevant legislation or regulations, and company directives.

Training

The success of any program depends on the capability of individuals to cazrry out their responsibilities accurately, either routinely or during a time of emergency. Most firms recognize that good quality training is necessary to achieve their environmental and operational goals.

Health, Safety and Environment Training

IEM has designed effective training programs that:
• give participants an understanding of operational activities that have the potential to impact the health, environment and safety; and
• show participants how to minimize these impacts through effective management.

Natural Resource Management

Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NERM) is a systems approach to managing natural resources and environment. IEM has been involved in program planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs, development of regional EIA methodologies, diagnostic study of natural resources and environmental issues within the entire South-East Asia region.

Environmental Monitoring Programs

Environmental monitoring provides information on the local chemical and biological environment, whereas compliance monitoring ensures project activities comply with regulations, permits and standards. IEM designs monitoring programs that determine the types and quantities of substances entering the environment, where these substances go, and the effect they may have on biota. By routinely monitoring pre-determined parameters, IEM can compare environmental change caused by project activities (pre-production, production and post-production) to baseline conditions.

Environmental Risk Assessments

Environmental risk assessments (ERAs) systematically assess management options to minimise risk to employees, the public and the environment. Risks are identified in the context of regulatory frameworks and company guidelines and performance. IEM finds the most acceptable method of undertaking the planned activities while minimising risk.

ISO-14001 EMS

ISO-14001 is an international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) that aims to support environmental protection and pollution prevention in balance with socio-economic needs.

Environment, Health and Safety Audits

An audit is used to systematically and objectively evaluate a client’s conformance to laws, regulations, standards and/or policies. IEM auditors visit the site to identify and describe operational aspects that may adversely affect the environment, peoples’ health or safety, and then determines if these aspects conform to existing regulatory requirements. If the auditor identifies non-conformance issues, IEM designs and implements an action plan to address the areas of concern.
